As the largest child advocacy association in the United States, the Parent Teacher Association (PTA®) speaks on behalf of every child on such important issues as education, health and safety. PTA volunteers provide countless hours of service to their schools and communities to help students succeed and to help children and families grow. PTA’s long history of volunteer service has led to many important developments in education and child welfare. For example, in the 1950s, PTA volunteers across the nation joined the campaign against polio by providing workers, facilities and time to set up polio vaccinations in schools and other facilities across the nation. More recently, PTA volunteers have played key roles in helping schools develop and implement federally-mandated school wellness policies. This ethic of service remains today, as PTA strives to improve the education, health, and well-being of today’s youth.
Our vision is to make every child's potential a reality by being:.
- a powerful voice for all children,
- a relevant resource for families and communities and
- a strong advocate for the education and well-being of every child.
